About

About the Quake Addon CD Project

This Quake Addon CD project seeks to provide the most complete catalog of third-party addon CDs for id Software’s 1996 computer game Quake (Quake 1).

This catalog is dedicated to documenting the many unofficial CD releases that contain total conversions, mods, maps, and tools for Quake. These CDs were distributed in various forms and played a key role in shaping the early modding community.

Our goal is to make these releases easily searchable so that fans and developers alike can revisit or discover the amazing content created for Quake. Whether you’re looking for a specific mod, a long-lost map, or the tools to create your own content, we hope this archive will be a valuable resource.

About CDs

What counts as a “Quake Addon CD”?

The CD has to be dedicated to Quake or Quake is a large focus.

The CD may have files for other games and other versions of Quake.

The focus is on standalone addon CDs, although a few magazine CDs have been included, because of their majority Quake focus.

What is out?

  • Official Quake CDs (retail, shareware, anthology).
  • Official Quake Mission Packs (#1 and #2).

CDs that have a large number of BBS/Internet files, some of which are Quake files are also out.

About Files

For each Quake addon CD in our catalog, you’ll find a complete list of its contents (files, mods, and maps) on the CD’s dedicated page.

Additionally, files within archives on the CD (e.g. .zip, .arj, .rar, .pak, .exe, etc.) are also listed, nested under the archive file.

These files listings are most helpful when you’re looking for rare Quake maps and mod files.
